Jasmine and I are BACK!
We’re cleared for all activity now that her knee is healed up. The past two months have been grueling, and since we haven’t been able to go to training, I’ve been taking pictures of dogs and living vicariously through their handlers instead. 🙂 If you are one of those handlers, thank you for giving me an iota of happiness.
For the past 8 weeks, Jazz has been able to fall back into her favorite lethargic state, but now we are determined to get back in shape. No more 10-minute strolls. No more excessive napping. She has taught me how to live life in the slow lane, and I’m a little scared to intentionally increase my heart rate again. Maybe we can drag this out another week and finish watching reruns of Outlander…
To make things awkward, Jasmine is in heat again. I could have sworn this torture was only once a year, but I was wrong. She whines and sleeps and even destroyed the door of her crate (I didn’t know she had the strength to do that…) And the blood. Good Lord the blood is EVERYWHERE. She’s been wearing an impromptu diaper composed of some old spandex shorts I wore when I was on the crew team in college.
Finally I have a sister who wears the same size clothes as me.
I will save her the embarrassment and not share a picture of that because she looks absolutely ridiculous, but here is a picture of her in her natural state of bliss.
Oh, my beautiful lioness.
I’ve been working her obedience hard, but honestly, I’m worried her and I are going to be awful once we get back into protection work with the DW. I know I’m not supposed to compare her to the other dogs ? but I’ve been going to classes to take “pictures” for a reason, and that reason is to scope out the competition! Kidding, that’s not the only reason.
Either way we are so very, very far behind.
It’s not like we haven’t been here before, but this time around, I know she trusts me as much as I trust her. And that’s a really awesome feeling.
